We’re committed to breaking the barrier that has developed between classical audiences and artists. At Annas Bay, we want our audiences to have fun looking for the flavors, colors and textures in the music we present. We want to unveil the process, so you can see what it takes to create and perform art music. We want to decode the terminology, ritual and history that form the pedigree of a work, and to give our audiences some fun new tools for truly savoring live performance. And we’re far more interested in musical experiences that are intimate and exciting, than big and fancy.
So at Annas Bay, while you won’t find a lot of black ties, you
will discover lively, informative programs, interesting opportunities
to interact with the artists, and thought-provoking experiences that will
help you develop your own insights about the music. You may spend lunchtime
at an informal concert event which pairs a special menu with tastes of
live art music, the afternoon paddling a kayak or getting a massage, and
the evening at an exciting chamber opera performance. The next day
you might bathe in the lush sound of our chamber choir after an expertly-prepared
meal of local seafood, or attend an open rehearsal of the festival orchestra,
sipping local wines while learning the fundamentals of ensemble performance.
Located in the historic town of Union, on the spectacular south shore of Hood Canal, Annas Bay is little more than two hours from Seattle and Portland, an hour from Tacoma, and 45 minutes from Olympia.
