History

Founded in 2005, the Anna’s Bay Center for Music is a non-profit charitable organization with a mission of building community through music. Our all-volunteer team works to achieve this mission by making music education and participatory musical experiences available to as many as possible in our severely under-served rural community.

Anna’s Bay is located in Union, Washington on the historic south shore of Hood Canal in southwest Puget Sound. Mason County is relatively isolated from large employment, cultural, and social service centers, being 90 miles from Seattle, 25 miles from Olympia, and 40 miles each from Bremerton and Tacoma. Only Shelton (county seat; pop. 8,980) is incorporated.

Anna’s Bay’s current programming includes a growing roster of community ensembles, partnerships to provide in-school music education for primary and secondary school children, as well as periodic musicals and guest artist appearances intended to enrich our community culturally and economically by boosting cultural tourism.
