The Color of Desire: 100 Years of Musique Classique
An evening of ravishingly beautiful music, including Saint-Saens’ famous “The Swan”.
Approximately 90 minutes long – includes intermission
The music of France resembles its cuisine, in that it combines a lightness of texture with rich, intense flavors. Both qualities are abundant in this program of music by French masters: Debussy’s haunting Ariettes oubliées and virtuosic Violin Sonata are joined by songs of Faure and Berlioz and all-time favorites like Saint-Saens’ “The Swan” and Massanet’s “Meditation” from Thaïs. Join us as we explore the peculiarly gallic combination of dazzling colors and fleeting visions, dramatic sense and lyric sensibility, all through the subject of love and longing.
Highlights to include:
- Jules Massenet’s “Meditation” from Thaïs for violin and piano
- Selections from Hector Berlioz’ Les nuits d’eté
- Olivier Messiaen’s “Louange a l’Eternite de Jesus” from Quatuor pour le fin du temps for cello and piano
- Claude Debussy’s Ariettes Oubliées for voice and piano
- Camille Saint-Saens’ “The Swan” from Carnival des Animeaux for cello and piano

Two2 to Tango: The Argentine Dance of Love
Tango the night away as Annas Bay’s own tango quartet tempts and tantalizes you with old favorites and new classics!
Approximately 3 hours long - – admission includes pre-event dance lesson with Tango Seattle’s own Sonny Newman (6:30 PM)
They say it takes two to tango; but they obviously don’t know that to really tango you need a quartet! Led by jazz musician extraordinaire Ben Thomas on the bandoneón and vibes, and joined by Annas Bay’s own Jerrod Wendland on piano, Two2 to Tango will combine old favorites with newer works by Tango legend Astor Piazzolla, Ben Thomas and others. A short tango lesson before the concert (free with ticket purchase) provides an introduction for people new to tango, or a refresher for experienced dancers. If you love dancing, and love live music, then this is a night not to be missed!
