Tiempo y Contratiempo
An Evening of Flamenco Music, Dance and Poetry
Approximately 90 minutes long – includes intermission
For hundreds of years, southern Spain (known as Andalusia) has kept a culture all its own, a culture formed by combining elements of Gypsy, Jewish and Islamic cultures with that of Spain. Flamenco is the ultimate expression of this culture. In the dancing of renowned Flamenco artists Sarah King and Veronica Barrera, you can see the hypnotic rhythms of the music; in the music of equally renowned Flamenco musicians Joel Kabakov and Eric Rosko, you feel the profundity and poetry of Spain’s many peoples. Flamenco’s combination of tempo (tiempo) and syncopation (contratiempo) create an experience that must be seen to be believed!

Michael Partington – Classical Guitar Evening
An enchanting evening of guitar music by a master musician, featuring works by Joaquín Rodrigo and Bryan Johanson.
Approximately 90 minutes long – includes intermission
Michael Partington is one of the most engaging guitarists of his generation. Praised by Classical Guitar Magazine for his "lyricism, intensity and clear technical command," this award-winning British guitarist has performed internationally as a soloist and with ensembles to unanimous critical praise. His innate rhythmic understanding and sense for tonal color combine to form some of the most memorable phrasing to be heard on the guitar. Tonight’s program features little-known masterworks, like Johanson’s haunting Variations on a Finnish Folksong, alongside favorites like Rodrigo’s exuberant Tres Piezas Españolas. Hear the intimacy and passion of the guitar as you’ve never heard it before!

Festa Bianca: Italian Arietta Tasting
Like its cuisine, Italy’s music varies regionally, making both art forms an ideal way to explore the different cultures and communities of the region.
Approximately 2 hours long - Includes specially prepared menu of food and wine selections
For centuries of Europeans, Italy was the “land of music”: all of the best singers and the most virtuosic players came from Italy. It was also the place where opera was born and blossomed into the powerful and passionate art we know today. Join us as we explore songs and arias from three Italian cities: Florence, Naples and Venice. Along the way, we’ll taste wines from these regions and hear instrumental music by Corelli and Scarlatti, in addition to songs by Vivaldi, Handel, and many others. Discover the land of music – at a party not to be missed!
