The most popular Gilbert and Sullivan opera The Mikado has delighted audiences for more than a century, and spawned a number of imitations. Gilbert’s text is a masterpiece of comic writing to which Sullivan’s ever tuneful music is perfectly adapted. The Japanese setting supplies a refreshingly colorful background, although, of course the characters are by no means Japanese, but the Victorian British in a very thin disguise. Fully staged and costumed, enjoy an evening of hidden identity, crookedly funny politicians, man-hungry dowagers and more!
