The first of Rogers and Hammerstein’s remarkable collaborations, the movie version of the hit broadway show starred Gordon MacRae, Shirley Jones (in her film debut), Rod Steiger,Charlotte Greenwood, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson, James Whitmore and Eddie Albert. Set in the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the twentieth century, two young cowboys vie with an evil ranch hand and a traveling peddler for the hearts of the women they love. Beautifully scored, you’ll know most of the songs whether you realize it or not!
