John Rutter’s Mass of the Children is a hauntingly beautiful work combining a three part (SSA) children’s choir with adult choir and chamber orchestra for an array of musical colors and textures. A beautiful marriage of both sacred and secular texts, this work forms the basis of a four-month collaboration with 7 different Mason County schools to supplement their in-school music programs. The over 100 students participating in this program will receive supplementary materials and instruction for four months, and at the culmination of the program, will perform together for four concerts, two of which will be free day-time in-school performances for an additional 1,000 local elementary school students. Sure to be one of the highlights of Anna’s Bay’s musical year.
