Water Night
Sunday June 3rd. 5:00 pm
Nordstom Great Hall
Harmony Hill Retreat Center
The Cascadian Chorale is a Bellevue-based community choir dedicated to the performance and promotion of fine choral music. The Chorale has performed at Benaroya Hall and Town Hall in Seattle, the Bellevue Art Museum and Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Bastyr University Chapel, and many other outstanding venues. Recent repertoire includes the Requiems of Brahms, Duruflé, Fauré and Mozart, and Te Deum settings by Handel, Bern Herbolsheimer and Arvo Pärt.
In choral music, the peace of night is often met by the calm of water. In this program Cascadian features three works by Samuel Barber, the mid-twentieth-century giant of American composition. This concert also celebrates works written in the last ten years by several American composers, including Eric Whitacre, Kevin Siegfried, John David Earnest, local composer Greg Bartholomew, and Cascadian’s Composer-in-Residence, Chris Fraley.
The clip below features Cascadian Chorale performing Seattle composer Bern Herbolsheimer’s Consummatum est.
